The title could allow our interpretation to be guided somewhat, ‘The Moment of Change is the Only Poem’ perhaps the book she holds she hoped held the answers to questions she had. Questions about change, progression, discovery. So maybe the book is a book of poems that never held the answers and in a period of disconsolation with the book slipping away from her hands the pages drift away and destroy themselves as redundant articles.
