"The Jeanneret Table”

Opening on Thursday at Galerie Downtown in Paris, Pierre Jeanneret, une table pour Madeleine et Jean Prouvé, is an exhibition dedicated to the table known to the Prouvé family as "the Jeanneret table”. François Laffanour, Galerie Downtown's owner, consistantly presents some of the rarest examples of French design history within strikingly dramatic and sophisticated settings. A visionary dealer with a remarkable sensibility. Bravo François!

The table, made for Jean Prouvé and his family in 1943, is considered a major piece in Pierre Jeanneret’s oeuvre. It was designed to fit, reasonably unobtrusively, into the space between the entrance and the kitchen, while its 5-sided shape easily accommodated 10 diners. Both sturdy and sculptural, "the Jeanneret table” is a perfect symbol of the friendship between these two outstanding men.
