This charming square shaped table will add a touch of elegance to any room setting, with mini cabriole legs, giving the table a highly distinctive look. The feet are beautifully carved in a floral pattern adding a wonderful decorative element, making this an attractive and practical coffee table for a modern home.
It was produced in Shanxi province during the mid 19th century where it would have been used to serve food or drink, placed either on a heated kang platform in a Chinese home or on a large daybed. The original dark finish has largely worn away especially on the table top, to leave a lovely patina formed over the years, complimenting the beautiful grain of the natural elm wood.
