About This Piece

Antique painting representing the descent of Jesus and made on panel, 18th century. A frame or bow stands out on the top part of solid wood polychrome in gold. In the work the body of Christ appears dead on the ground, under the Cross. Mary Magdalene extends her arms towards him while the Virgin cries inconsolably. The painter uses numerous foreshortenings and contrasts of light, which cause a certain visual violence, also evident in the bright tones of the figures that stand out against the dark sky, revealing the clouds. Measurements: 82 cm wide x 135 cm high.
