Late 17th Early Sideboard in Molded and Carved Oak from Norman, France

About This Piece

Vintage Design

Wonderful Norman buffet in molded and carved oak opening with four leaves separated by drawers. The doors have a panel decorated with a polylobed reserve surrounded by rocaille motifs. The straight cornice with rough edges is highlighted with foliage scrollwork. It rests on four ball feet.
This cabinet is very elegant and the molding and sculpture work is fine and delicate;
This charming Norman provincial work from the Louis XIV / Regency period is a very pretty historical witness.

Late 17th - early 18th century - Normandy – France

At the end of the 17th century, Norman craftsmen took up the forms of the Parisian Louis
The structure of the sideboard is made up of two independent and superimposed bodies, without recess, with a row of two intermediate drawers.
The characteristic panels are decorated with a central plain violin motif with the edges carved with fine foliage. We also find these sculptures at the level of the entablature frieze spreading out on either side of the symmetrical Louis XIV shell.
