Vintage Design

Beautiful desk lamp from the 60's by Italian designer Oscar Torlasco. Structure and shade in solid brass, possibility to orient the lamp in different directions thanks to a central ball joint as well as the shade. Nice vintage condition, with a nice patina of time on the brass. To note traces of use and time on the whole lamp (see photos). Two recommended LED bulbs type E27, original electrical system.

About the Creator

Oscar Torlasco

Italian lighting designer Oscar Torlasco (born in Rome, 1934-2004) designed for a wide array of Italian lighting manufacturers including Esperia and Stilkronen, though he spent most of his career designing for Lumi.

Particularly active during the 1950s and 1960s, Torlasco’s lighting designs - which span sconces, floor lamps, and chandeliers - often utilized industrial chromed steel which he paired with more luxurious materials such as marble, crystal, and brass. His eclectic designs ranged in style from industrial and Space Age to Italian Art Deco. The use of optical glass lenses within his designs is considered Torlasco's signature. In 1959, he was awarded a Compasso d`Oro for his public street light Genova 4053 (1959).
