Stunning triangular coffee table from the Eros series designed by Angelo Mangiarotti and manufactured by Skipper in Italy in 1971. Made of solid Mondragone marble with an absolutely mesmerizing grain to it with the typical white veins running through the grey brown marble. Super rare version in mondragone marble. The design is inspired by ancient Rome, and the table has big pillars that not only look strong but also cleverly hold up the top using gravity. Mangiarotti came up with a genius idea for the Eros series—gravity joints. These joints are special because they don't need screws or regular connections. The base of these tables stays in place simply because of the heavy weight of the top. This collection shows Mangiarotti's creative and smart use of materials, marking the high point of his exploration into embedded furniture. In outstanding original condition.
