This is a set of 4 antique ladder back chairs. An Irish, mahogany dining seat, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1880.

Wonderful frames, prime for reupholstering

Charming ladder backs with pierced, wavy line cross rails
Gently chamfered edges decorated with beading
Chair aprons carved with striking toothed motif

Egg and dart mouldings add eye-catching detail to the front legs
Gently splayed rear legs with square section feet
The pairs of legs united by a H-stretcher

This is a fascinating set of antique ladder back chairs, with fine Irish craftsmanship and detail. The drop-in seats afford easy recovering to personal taste and to do justice to the quality of the chair frames, which will offer a striking dining suite. Solid joints and construction, delivered waxed, polished and ready for TLC.
