19th Century Bronze Wildlife Owls

Beautiful bronze with brown patina entitled ''Wildlife owls'' against red marble base, this beautiful piece dates from the nineteenth.

Our young Fauna, takes care of feeding a hungry young owl under the watchful eyes of two little owls patiently waiting their turn.

The patina is exceptional

In Roman mythology, a faun (Latin faunus) is a rustic rural deity. It is represented with a human body but legs and goat horns. Faunas have belatedly been equated with satyrs of Greek mythology by the Romans (horses men).

Creature of the Little People World, the Wildlife lives mainly in forests of cork oaks. It feeds on fruits and roots, and used to say that humans are evil beasts!

Poets often claim they heard the voice of fauns in the thick woods. Although demigods, fauns were not immortal, but died after a very long life.

Faunus is a patron deity of flocks and give them fertility and defends against wolves, hence the name ''Lupercus'' which is also often attributed to him (Lupus ''wolf''). It is also a prophetic god whose voice is heard in the silence of the night to pronounce oracles.
